Wendy’s Boys Results

October 2, 2011

Wooooo!  Fast!  Yay everybody.

Varsity boys were 11th, moving up from 15th last year.  From our region, Ardrey Kell was 3rd, TC Roberson 10th, Watauga 11th, Myers Park 12th, and Providence 16th.  Of the 10 teams in front of us, five were from North Carolina, and four were 4A schools.  Most importantly, eight people beat Darby, which means they are good.

Compared to last year we were faster at one and two, slower at three and four, and faster at five through infinity.  To see full results of the JV races, click to see either the 9th/10th grade race or the 11th/12th grade race.  We reached our goal of putting someone under 18:00 in each race (actually more than one in each race) and of getting plenty of people on the first page of results – four in the top 36 for the Fr/Soph race and five in the first 47 of the Jr/Sr race.

Splits to the extent we could get them.  Ten miles of running to get the splits today.

* – somewhere they lost a spot in the Jr/Sr boys times, as indicated by their not having the right time for Caleb W., and Joey’s time on his watch matching that of the next person in the results, and Cam being shown six seconds in front of the next person when he passed the guy right before the line.  I’ve adjusted a few, but if you have better info let me know.

I wonder what Jeff George thinks about Watauga having twelve guys sub-18, considering he said ‘depth could be an issue’ in the pre-season rankings.

    – Our top five is 7th in 4A
    – We’re third in the region
    – Obviously first in the conference
    – Our projected 2014 regional rank is first, we are also projected first in the region next year
    – Our top five are projected to win state next year

I have little doubt in my mind that you guys can win state next year if you really go for it.

      The way you win state is if everyone currently under 18:00 cuts in half the gap between himself and 15:00. (15:29, 15:35, 16:00, 16:10, 16:13, 16:16, 16:17, 16:20, 16:21, 16:27, 16:30).

I have faith they can do that, or at least come close to that. Even if they don’t, regionals next year should be well within their reach.
