High Country Classic:  There’s still places to help out at the volunteer sign-up page.  Even if you haven’t signed up, we can use your help on Saturday morning.  We have close to 500 runners coming to this race – everything from the finish line to the concession stand needs more help than usual.

Schedule info:  Thursday Sept. 1 – practice will be at school.  We are trying to work out transportation for one off-campus day next week.   Friday Sept. 2 – practice is right after school.  It should be over between 3:00-3:30.  A week from Saturday (Sept. 10) – there will be a team workout at the track; probably late-morning, we will announce the time next week.

Volunteer info:  If you can take extra people to the meet in Lenoir on Sept. 6, sign up here.  If you can work concessions at the football game on Sept. 8, sign up here.

Roby Greene Run – the bus parks in the church parking lot on Castleford Rd., just across the river from T-intersection of Roby Greene with Castleford.   If you are coming from Boone, it is about 3 miles out 194 from the New Market intersection to where you turn right on Castleford, and a little over two miles from there to the parking area.  If you are coming from this direction, you pass Roby Greene Rd. before  you get to the church, and both are on the right.  People will probably be finishing their run about 5:30 if you want to pick them up at the church, or runners can ride the bus back to the high school.

Dana Brackney is handling volunteer sign-up for the Clash of the Classes.  Go to her sign-up page for more info – the biggest need is donations for the concessions (we make a surprising amount of money off this), and help running concessions, operating the finish line, and directing runners on the course.
